Jubilee elevates Kioni to deputy party leader in key leadership shake-up
Jubilee Party has appointed Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni as its new Deputy Party Leader in a leadership reshuffle as the party steps up preparations for the 2027 General Election.
The decision was reached by the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) on Thursday, January 22, and was later ratified by the National Delegates Convention.
Following Kioni’s elevation, the NEC appointed former Kajiado North Member of Parliament Richard Moitalel Ole Kenta as the new Secretary General of the party.
The appointment was announced by the Jubilee Party National Executive Committee under the leadership of former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Kenta is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya and holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Nairobi.
He was first elected to Parliament in 2013 on a The National Alliance (TNA) ticket and served two consecutive terms. He later contested the Narok County gubernatorial seat in the 2022 General Election.
In addition to his parliamentary service, Kenta has held positions in several public institutions, including serving as chairman of Kenya Wine Agencies Limited (KWAL) and as a director at the Geothermal Development Company (GDC).
The party said Kenta brings experience in elective politics, legal practice, strategic management and institutional governance at a time when Jubilee is strengthening its internal structures ahead of the next general election.
In a statement, the party called on its members, supporters and partners to support Kenta as he takes up the role of Secretary General.
The leadership changes come as Jubilee continues to reorganise its top structures amid renewed efforts to position itself competitively ahead of the 2027 polls.
