Debate seen as political rivalry by analysts
A fresh political debate has erupted after a senior government official questioned the source of development funds linked to Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro.
Speaking at a public forum, MP Gideon Kimaiyo claimed that Nyoro is using money accumulated during his time as Chair of Parliament’s powerful Budget and Appropriations Committee to finance projects in his constituency.
Kimaiyo argued that the position gave Nyoro influence and access to key budgeting processes, which he believes later translated into strong financial backing on the ground.
According to him, the ongoing developments in Kiharu should be viewed in the context of Nyoro’s past parliamentary role rather than individual generosity.
His remarks quickly sparked reactions both online and among local residents. Supporters of Nyoro dismissed the claims, insisting that all projects in Kiharu are funded through lawful government allocations, constituency programmes, and partnerships with development agencies.
They argued that holding a senior parliamentary position does not automatically mean access to personal wealth or misuse of public funds, adding that Nyoro’s track record shows transparency and effective leadership.
Others, however, saw Kimaiyo’s comments as part of rising political rivalry as leaders begin positioning themselves ahead of future elections.
Political observers note that while the Budget Committee chairmanship is influential, its decisions go through Parliament and are subject to oversight.
They warn against making claims without proof, saying such narratives can confuse the public and distract from real issues.
As the debate continues, many Kenyans are urging leaders to focus on service delivery and accountability rather than political exchanges.
For residents, visible development remains what matters most, regardless of the politics
surrounding its source.
