Babu Owino undergoes medical procedure, says he’s recovering well

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has revealed that he recently underwent a medical procedure and is now recovering well.

Babu Owino expressed gratitude for the outpouring of concern, prayers, and messages of goodwill he has received.

In a statement on Facebook, the MP said he remains hopeful and determined to resume his public duties in the New Year.

“I have received, with profound humility and heartfelt gratitude, the overwhelming concern, prayers, and messages of goodwill that have poured in regarding my health. Your compassion has been a powerful source of strength to me and my family,” Babu Owino said.

“In the spirit of openness and honesty that should guide all who serve the public, I wish to share that I recently underwent a medical procedure following an illness. By God’s grace, I am now on the path to recovery, and I remain hopeful and determined to resume my public duties in the New Year. I am deeply thankful for every prayer, every message, and every expression of solidarity. Your kindness has meant more to me than words can fully convey.”

Reflecting on others facing health challenges, Owino extended his thoughts to Kenyans spending the festive season in hospitals.

“I pray that God grants you healing, renewed strength, and comfort, and that your families are filled with hope during this challenging time,” he said, adding the importance of standing together in compassion and shared humanity.

The MP cited a verse of faith to encourage Kenyans, Jeremiah 30:17: “I will give you back your health and heal your wounds,’ says the Lord.”

“As I heal, my heart is especially with all Kenyans who have spent this Christmas season in hospital beds, away from their loved ones. I pray that God grants you healing, renewed strength, and comfort, and that your families are filled with hope during this challenging time,” he said.

“No Kenyan should ever feel alone in suffering, and no family should be driven to despair because of illness or poverty. We must continue to stand together, bound by faith, compassion, and our shared humanity.”

MP Babu Owino was on Sunday ranked as the most preferred Luo Kingpin, a new poll revealed. 

Infortrak poll released on December 28 showed that most respondents perceive Babu Owino as the best successor to the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga. 

Babu Owino was the favourite pick of 33 per cent of the respondents, followed by Siaya Senator and ODM party leader Oburu Odinga with 10 per cent. 

The end of year poll was conducted on December 19 and 20, 2025. 

Other names in the list were Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga with seven per cent, Siaya Governor James Orengo with four per cent, Energy CS Opiyo Wandayi and Interior PS Raymond Omolo both with two per cent of the votes.
