Briton collapses and dies at ATM lobby in Kinoo, Kiambu

Detectives are investigating an incident where a Briton collapsed and died at an ATM lobby in Kinoo area, Nairobi.

Police said Andrew Paul Hayward, 58 had visited a friend in the area when the incident happened on July 21 at night.

Witnesses said the man had been to an ATM at the local branch of a bank and had withdrawn an unknown amount of money when he suddenly collapsed.

The friend was contacted and arrived at the scene in a car and rushed him to hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The body was moved to Chiromo Mortuary, awaiting postmortem.

Officials at the British High Commission in Nairobi were informed of the incident and are involved in the probe, police said.

The case is under investigation, police said.

Elsewhere in Bondo, Siaya County, a woman died after being bitten by a snake.

Police said the incident happened in Goma village and involved one Janetrix Alunga, 20.

She was rushed to a local hospital, where she succumbed to the poison.

Police said the body had scratches on the upper left limb, believed to be from the bite.

The body was preserved at the Bondo Sub-County mortuary pending investigations and autopsy.

Elsewhere in Gatunga, Tharaka Nithi County, the body of a man was found floating on the banks of River Tana.

The body had decomposed when it was discovered on July 24. Police suspect the man died or drowned elsewhere before the body was swept to the area.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending identification and autopsy.

And a 20-year-old man was stoned to death after being accused of stealing maize in Kapkangani village, Nandi County.

Police said the man was pronounced dead on arrival in the hospital.

Police discourage mob lynching and term it criminal.

Authorities want suspects be surrendered for formal processing.

An investigation has been opened into the incident and the body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy.

Police say most victims are innocent and some are framed before being killed by mobs.
