Malava MP-elect David Ndakwa vows to prioritise and complete ongoing development projects

Malava MP-elect David Ndakwa has vowed to prioritise and complete ongoing development projects initiated by the late Malulu Injendi before embarking on new initiatives.

Speaking after receiving his certificate of election, Ndakwa said continuity would guide his tenure and that safeguarding Malulu’s legacy was a key responsibility.

Ndakwa won the by-election with 21,564 votes, narrowly defeating DAP-K’s Seth Panyako, who received 20,210 votes.

He stressed that the constituency’s progress should not stall.

“I will ensure that all ongoing development projects are completed before launching new ones,” Ndakwa said.

He expressed gratitude to President William Ruto for the opportunity to run on the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket, noting that the party had shown confidence in his leadership.

Ndakwa also thanked his family and supporters for their support during the campaign.

He commended the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) for overseeing a credible election process.

He also acknowledged the security agencies for maintaining order, enabling residents to vote peacefully despite a few isolated incidents.

Addressing the electorate, Ndakwa emphasised unity, saying Malava must remain cohesive under his leadership.

“Malava is one, and I will work to ensure that no one is left behind,” he said.

He thanked UDA competitors who supported him after conceding during party nominations, including Ryan Injendi, the late Malulu’s son.

Ndakwa also appealed to his opponents in the by-election to work together for the constituency’s progress.

“There is only one leader at a time. Today it’s me; tomorrow it could be someone else. Our focus should be the welfare of the people,” he said.

He also appreciated the media for what he described as fair coverage throughout the campaign.

Malava was among 22 electoral areas across the country where by-elections were conducted on Thursday.

In addition, UDA secured the Baringo Senatorial seat and parliamentary seats in Mbeere North and Banisa constituencies, along with several MCA positions.

In other results, ODM candidate Boyd Were won the Kasipul parliamentary seat, defeating his closest rival, Philip Aroko.
