Morara defends Kasmuel’s decision to work with Raila after Gen Z demos

Inject Party leader Kebaso Morara has defended political activist Kasmuel McOure’s decision to work with the Raila Odinga-led Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party.

In a statement on Monday, Morara rebuked Kenyans who had been attacking him for reaching out to Kasmuel, despite having made it clear that he was working with Raila.

He explained that the country’s politics is predominantly tribal and that Kasmuel chose a party that can propel him to leadership in his region.

He questioned if Kenyan youths, despite the uproar, had a party that he should have joined.

“You guys condemn me for reaching out to Kasmuel. I reached out to him because I understood his situation more than you do. This country is extremely tribal, and political parties control various tribes. If Kasmuel wants to be a Senator in Migori or Homa Bay where exactly do you expect him to go? Which political party do you have as GenZs that he should have joined instead of ODM, which has influence in his community?” Morara posed.

He insisted that he did not fault Kasmuel for joining ODM because many of the old leaders in the party have done the same over the years.

Morara said it was wrong for other youths to fight Kasmuel for a decision that other leaders have been forgiven for.

“I never judged him for greeting Ruto because some of the leaders you celebrate here have even slept with Ruto for several years. And you celebrate them as your saviours. But you want to hate a fellow youth forever for something you have forgiven the old, corrupt opposition leaders. Who in the opposition doesn’t have a photo with Ruto? Who? So why are they better than Kasmuel?”

Political activist Kasmuel McOure announced that he had joined the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party in November 2024.

He said the party is now out to revive youth and student leagues across the country, describing it as the only pro-people party in East and Central Africa.

The activist further called on young people to join the party, insisting that it is the only political movement that pushes for a country where everyone can live with dignity.

“If you’re willing to join a substantive political movement for a fair, democratic Kenya where everyone can live with dignity, consider @TheODMparty - the largest pro-people party in East and Central Africa!

“We’re revitalising the Youth and Students’ Leagues and are calling on passionate young Kenyans to help shape our future. Stand with us! Thank you, party chair @gladyswanga, for your faith and hosting us this weekend,” Kasmuel said.
