Natembeya back in office after two-month court ban

Governor George Natembeya of Trans Nzoia has reported back to his head office in Kitale after expiry of a two-month ban by a court in Nairobi.

On May 20, Natembeya was freed on a bond of Sh1 million with an alternative bail of Sh500000 following charges of corruption.

He denied the allegations.

The governor had also been barred the governor from accessing his office for 60 days.

Excited members of his county executive and staff welcomed the governor back following the two-month absence.

Natembeya has been operating at sub-county offices, where he held meetings and met official delegations.

During the two months, he also made an extensive tour of the county and argued that he had nothing to hide in the office.

“I am excited to be back and, as usual, let's work hard to serve the people of Trans Nzoia”, he told staff who received him.

Natembeya said he was more energised in performing his duties even after missing his Town Hall office for the past two months.

Hundreds of residents also turned up to welcome the governor back to his office.

Addressing members of the public after reporting back, Natembeya said his administration would continue working on major projects across the county..The governor thanked public servants at Town Hall for continuing to perform their duties effectively even during his absence from the office.

“Of course, I was doing my work from sub-counties and other offices, but my absence from Town Hall did not deter workers from providing services,” said Natembeya.

Natembeya said the county workers had done their best to serve residents despite the political challenges he had been facing.

“I thank God for keeping us safe, and despite everything we have gone through, my determination and resolve is unstoppable”, said Natembeya.
