Uhuru dispatches Kanze Dena with Ksh1M support for Betty Bayo’s family
The spokesperson for the Office of Kenya’s Fourth President, Kanze Dena-Mararo, on Saturday, November 15, 2025, visited the family home of the late gospel singer Betty Bayo to deliver a condolence message on behalf of former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Dena met with members of the grieving family, including Bayo’s husband, Hiram Gitau, her children, Sky and Danny, and other close relatives.
She offered words of comfort and assured the family of the former president’s prayers and continued support as they navigate what she described as “a deeply painful moment.”
During the visit, Kanze Dena also delivered a contribution of Ksh1 million from her boss, Uhuru Kenyatta, to assist with funeral arrangements, a gesture she said was made in honour of Bayo’s life, ministry, and public influence.
In his written tribute, Uhuru praised Bayo as “an extraordinary minister of the gospel whose music uplifted countless hearts and inspired hope across the nation.”
He acknowledged her artistic legacy, her devotion to faith, and the enduring impact of her work within Kenya’s gospel industry, noting that “her legacy will endure through her children, her music, and the many lives she touched.”
Bayo, celebrated for her inspirational music and ministry, leaves behind a legacy cherished by fans, colleagues, and the Christian community across Kenya.
Untimely passing
Betty, the renowned Busy Busy hitmaker, passed away after battling acute leukaemia and excessive bleeding, conditions that had worsened in her final days.
She was first admitted to AAR Hospital on Kiambu Road before being transferred to the Kenyatta National Hospital, where she succumbed at 1:03 pm on Monday.
Burial meetings have been ongoing in preparation for her final send-off scheduled for Thursday, November 20, 2025, at Ndumberi Stadium, where the main burial service will be held.
Family members, friends, and fellow gospel artistes have continued to pay tribute to Betty, celebrating her as a gifted musician who touched many lives through her ministry and music
