34-year-old man found murdered in Kabati maize plantation

Detectives in Muranga County are investigating the death of a 34-year-old man whose body was found in a maize plantation in Kabati village.

The deceased, identified as Kennedy Njoroge, was reported to have stab wounds to the head, neck, and abdomen.

Police also recovered a suspected weapon near the scene.

A note found beside the body referred to the victim as having been involved in criminal activity in the area and suggested others could be targeted.

Authorities said the motive for the killing was still under investigation.

The body has been taken to a mortuary for autopsy and other procedures.

In Kiambu Town, a man escaped unharmed after his Mercedes-Benz saloon caught fire on Monday morning near Kiambu High School.

The driver reported that he noticed smoke coming from the bonnet and stopped the vehicle, exiting safely while seeking assistance.

The car was destroyed by the fire. Police later moved the wreckage to their station yard for investigation.

In Ntimaru, Migori County, police are investigating an incident in which a vehicle belonging to Angata Sugar Mills was damaged, with salt poured into its engine.

The motive for the attack remains unclear. The car had been parked at the site after experiencing mechanical problems.

Authorities said a team has been assigned to investigate. The area has recently experienced tribal clashes that have resulted in multiple deaths and displacements, prompting authorities to impose a month-long dusk-to-dawn curfew.

In Tigoni, Limuru, Kiambu County, police are investigating the escape of three suspects from custody on December 28, 2025. According to authorities, the escape occurred while the cells were being cleaned. One male escapee reportedly pushed a female officer during the breakout.

The suspects climbed over the report office counter and exited through a wall leading to nearby tea plantations.

Police, assisted by a dog named Rao, managed to rearrest one of the suspects, who had been held on custodial orders at Limuru Law Court.

Two male remandees and one other suspect remain at large. Authorities identified the escapees as Oscar Wanyonyi Wamalwa, wanted in a robbery and sexual assault case; Moses Karanja Ndungu, wanted in a murder case; and Joseph Njuguna, wanted in a theft case.
