DCP rallies 10K Kenyans to camp at JKIA for Gachagua’s return

Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) Nairobi Patron Irungu Nyakera has rallied at least 10,000 Kenyans to receive former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) upon his return.
Speaking to Kameme TV on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, Nyakera announced that preparations and mobilisations have been ongoing across multiple counties bordering Nairobi to ensure a massive turnout.Mobilisation across counties
Nyakera revealed that meetings have been held in Nairobi, Kiambu, Narok, and Machakos, among other counties, to coordinate logistics for Gachagua’s grand reception.
“We have prepared enough as members and leaders of the DCP to receive our boss, Rigathi Gachagua.
“Meetings have been held in Nairobi, Kiambu, Narok, and Machakos, all counties that border Nairobi. DCP meetings have been happening because we want at least 10,000 Kenyans to come out and camp at the JKIA airport starting at 8 am,” he stated.
The Nairobi Patron further explained that after the reception at the airport, supporters would tour several parts of Nairobi and nearby counties in solidarity with Gachagua
According to him, the excitement surrounding Gachagua’s return reflects the former deputy president’s growing influence and fearless approach in confronting President William Ruto.Bold Gachagua
Nyakera stressed that Kenyans admire Gachagua for his boldness in addressing sensitive issues without fear.
“They are happy that he can solely handle Ruto without fear. A person who can be able to ask hard questions, for example, about police brutality, State House ineffectiveness, and e-citizen loot,” Nyakera added.
At the same time, he cautioned supporters to remain peaceful during the much-anticipated event.
“I urge all our supporters not to be violent and observe peace, as that is not Gachagua’s tradition,” Nyakera said, noting that DCP’s objective was to demonstrate strength through numbers, not chaos.
His remarks come amid growing speculation over the political temperature that Gachagua’s return might generate, especially with claims that state agencies are preparing to arrest him once he lands.
Despite these fears, Nyakera reassured Kenyans that the DCP was committed to peaceful political expression and ensuring that their leader’s comeback sends a strong but lawful message.
