EACC conducts searches at Nyamira governor Nyaribo's home, county offices

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) on Wednesday conducted coordinated search operations at the official and private residences of Nyamira Governor Amos Nyaribo, as well as the offices and homes of several senior county officials, as part of ongoing investigations into the usage of Sh382 million in a county construction project.

According to EACC officials, the operation was carried out following the execution of court-issued search warrants.

The probe concerns the procurement and award of a contract for the construction of the Nyamira County Government offices.

Investigators are examining payments made under the contract and whether they align with the actual work completed.

EACC said the searches were aimed at obtaining documents, financial records, and digital evidence relevant to the inquiry.

The Commission also confirmed that part of the investigation involves reviewing authorizations of certain payments made within the county government.

The searches, officials noted, form part of standard investigative procedures intended to establish facts and determine accountability.

The operation targeted multiple locations, including Governor Nyaribo’s official residence in Nyamira, his private home, and offices linked to other senior officials.

The simultaneous searches were carried out in Nyamira, Kisii, and Nairobi counties, with EACC officers seeking to secure evidence and records related to the management of the project funds.

EACC said the operation forms part of its ongoing mandate to uphold integrity and transparency in the use of public resources, particularly in major infrastructure and construction contracts at the county level.

The Commission stressed that investigations are still ongoing and that no determination has been made regarding culpability or wrongdoing by any individual.
