Gachagua launches new DCP branch in US

Former Deputy President and DCP boss Rigathi Gachagua has opened a new party office in the US.

Taking to his official and verified X handle on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, Gachagua confirmed the launch of the Midwest DCP Office Kansas City Chapter, USA.

Gachagua described the development as a significant step in strengthening the party’s presence among Kenyans in the diaspora and ensuring their voices remain part of the national political conversation.

“DCP Party continues to strengthen its commitment to listening to the people of Kenya across the board, fostering a truly inclusive and responsive approach,” he wrote.

Diaspora engagement

According to the former Deputy President, the opening of the Kansas City branch reflects the party’s strategy to connect with Kenyans living abroad, not only for political mobilisation but also for policy shaping and community support.

“It was my absolute pleasure to join Kenyans in the diaspora for the official opening of the Midwest DCP Office, Kansas City Chapter, USA,” Gachagua posted, alongside photos of the event.

The launch attracted a section of DCP supporters, community leaders, and Kenyan professionals based in the United States.

Party insiders say the Kansas City chapter will serve as a hub for diaspora consultations, civic education, and engagement on policy matters affecting Kenyans both at home and overseas.

Building political bridges abroad

Gachagua said the expansion of DCP operations beyond Kenya’s borders is part of a wider outreach programme designed to tap into the economic, social, and intellectual contributions of Kenyans abroad.

“Together, we are building bridges and empowering Kenyans wherever they are,” he wrote, adding that the party values open communication and participatory governance.

“Here’s to more growth, collaboration, and listening to the voices that matter most!” he added in his X post.

Political analysts note that Kenyan parties are increasingly paying attention to the diaspora vote, with many recognising its potential influence in future elections. The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) estimates that thousands of Kenyans abroad are registered to vote, with more expected to join the roll ahead of the 2027 general election.

The new DCP branch is expected to start operations immediately, with officials promising regular forums, policy discussions, and networking events for members.
