Housegirl vanishes with employer’s pistol, cash, title deeds in Kileleshwa, Nairobi

Detectives are investigating claims that a house girl stole a pistol with 40 bullets and cash from her employer in Nairobi’s Kileleshwa area.

The housegirl had been left alone in the house on Monday, November 3, 2025, when she stole the valuables, the employer told police.

The owner of the house is a licensed firearm holder.

He told police he and his family had left their house for errands, but when they returned, they found the portable safe missing from his bedroom wardrobe.

The safe had the Glock pistol with two magazines, USD1,950, Euros600, Sh5,000 assorted jewelry, land titles, and other electronics.

The woman escaped with the safe in a carton.

Security cameras at the compound captured her as she walked out with the carton. The guards on duty said they thought she had been sent somewhere.

Nairobi police boss George Seda said they are making efforts to trace the woman for grilling and possible recovery of the weapon and cash.

There are fears she may sell the weapon for criminal activities.

Meanwhile, police in Bondo, Siaya County, are investigating an incident where four armed robbers attacked and robbed a man of cash and gold.

The victim had been to a local shopping centre for gold and was returning home when he was attacked by the men, who were armed with knives and AK-47 rifles.

They gained entry to the house through the kitchen door, police said.

The gang also assaulted the wife as they demanded cash and gold from the man, police said.

They then robbed the couple of gold valued at Sh90,000, Sh40,000, two mobile phones, and other valuables.

Police said the gang escaped in a car that was waiting outside the compound. Efforts to trace the gang are ongoing, police said.

Elsewhere, police in Karungu, Nyatike, Migori County are investigating an incident where one Oduor Opiyo, 26, died after being assaulted by his brothers in a domestic argument.

The brothers accused the deceased of insulting their mother before assaulting him. He was left with serious injuries and rushed to the hospital, where he died on arrival, police said. Efforts to arrest the said assailants are ongoing, police said.

Police said the body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other investigations.

And in Muranga, police and prison officials are investigating the death of a convict at the Maranjau GK prison.

The convict had complained of stomach pain before they moved him to the hospital. He died on the road and was pronounced dead on arrival at the Makuyu Health Centre.

The deceased, identified as Stephen Kamau Kuguna, 53, was serving a one-year sentence at Maranjau GK prisons for the offence of trafficking narcotics.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other investigations, police said.
