Majority of Kenyans are opposed to broad based government - Tifa poll
Kenyans have named corruption as the main factor undermining development in the country.
According to data released on Wednesday by Tifa Poll, 42 per cent of Kenyans mentioned corruption, while 30 per cent cited poor leadership.
Tifa noted that a considerable variety of other factors were mentioned by the rest of the respondents, including tribalism/ethnic tensions with six per cent and, inflation and external debt with five per cent.
Only two per cent of the respondents noted high taxation and unemployment, with one per cent blaming the citizens with issues including laziness, ignorance and lack of patriotism.
Four per cent named other reasons, while five per cent of the respondents were not sure.
Tifa noted that no response options were read out, so that they were spontaneous mentions.
The Survey was conducted between May 2 and May 6, 2025, among 2,024 respondents across nine zones.
This includes Central Rift, Coast, Lower Eastern, Mt Kenya, Nairobi, Northern, Nyanza, South Rift and Western.
It was conducted through Telephonic Interviews (with respondents whose contacts were collected through face-to-face (i.e., household-based interviews)
The interviews were conducted in Kiswahili (mainly) and English.
The survey has a margin error of +/- 2.17 percent.
