Morning Fire Razes Down Buildings in Nairobi's South B Estate

Several families have been left counting losses after a fire destroyed properties of unknown value in Mukuru Fuata Nyayo Village, South B Ward, Nairobi County, on Thursday morning.

According to witnesses, the fire broke out at around 2am, causing massive structural damage in the area. 

It reportedly broke out in one of the buildings and quickly spread to others during the wee hours.

Initial attempts by locals to extinguish the fire proved futile as the flames escalated, forcing them to seek help from the Nairobi County government

Moments later, firefighters from Nairobi City County and the Rescue Services Team arrived at the scene and extinguished the fire, which had already consumed several buildings.

Images and videos obtained by 8t8 Media. showed several buildings engulfed in huge clouds of smoke, with some residents attempting to retrieve their belongings.

Other footage showed a group of residents watching their property burn down even as the responders intensified their efforts.

At the time of publication, no fatalities or injuries had been confirmed as a result of the fire.

This fire occurred just a few weeks after another fire broke out in Garissa on October 27, adding to the number of fire incidents in the country.

The Garissa inferno caused losses for traders who counted the cost after a fire broke out at the market earlier today.

The fire reportedly broke out at around 11:40am, quickly escalating and engulfing several structures in the busy refugee camp market.

The Kenya Red Cross brought the fire under control, although several shops, pharmacies, restaurants and other commercial establishments were destroyed as a result.
