Ruto announces Ksh900M Busia International Stadium project
Addressing residents during a public rally, President Ruto said the new Busia stadium will complement the larger Talanta Hela Stadium project currently underway in Nairobi.
He described both developments as part of the government’s wider plan to promote sports, empower young people and improve social infrastructure across the country.
“Watu wa Funyula, kitambo mngeamini nyumba ya ghorofa kumi ingejengwa hapa kweli? Hivyo ndivyo tunabadilisha hii inchi. Pia vijana wa hapa si mnapenda ball. Ni kweli ama si kweli?” Ruto asked as the crowd cheered.
The President said that Busia County has a strong sporting culture and that the new facility will give local athletes an opportunity to showcase their talent.

Once completed, the stadium will not only host football matches but also international athletic events, concerts and cultural activities.

“We want to build a country where talent is rewarded and where every young person can earn a living through their skills,” he said.
Residents of Busia welcomed the announcement, saying it would open up new economic opportunities for the region and inspire young people to pursue sports as a career.
