Senator Cherargei, MP Wamuchomba call for CS Murkomen's resignation

Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei and Githunguri Member of Parliament Gathoni Wamuchomba have called for Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen to resign, arguing that he is unfit to handle the ministry.

The leaders highlighted the murder of Rev. Fr. Allois Cheruiyot Bett of St. Matthias Mulumba Tot Parish in Elgeyo Marakwet and recalled how the CS had previously raised concerns about insecurity in the Kerio Valley region during the Uhuru Kenyatta regime.

“Transferring incompetence to the Ministry of Interior is dangerous because you lose lives. This minister should be called out, he is embarrassing all of us who are in government. In fact, Murkomen master should resign,” Senator Cherargei wrote on X.

But now he is in charge of security, but our people continue to be slaughtered like goats because he is just incorrigible, incompetent & lazy," Cherargei added.

The Senator accused Murkomen of directing the National Police Service to falsely indicate that the killing of Rev. Fr. Allois Cheruiyot Bett was not related to banditry, claiming the opposite is true.

"We shall not allow him to malign the Priest in death," he declared.

According to Cherargei, the area has been a playground for criminal bandits for the last three days, with several Kenyans killed.

The criticism extended to both CS Duale and Murkomen, with critics pointing out the irony that both officials had "harshly condemned the former regime for misses in keeping peace in the bandit-prone areas.

MP Wamuchomba echoed Cherargei's sentiments, suggesting that "Murkomen should just resign and join noise makers. He performed better there."

The lawmaker also directed criticism at Health CS Aden Duale, saying he "should keep quiet and only speak when health care workers are properly employed and remunerated."

"The killing of the Catholic father by Bandits is heartbreaking," Wamuchomba wrote on X.

Wamuchomba concluded with a warning that "the 1 T spirit is in the air," suggesting growing political tensions over the government's handling of security and healthcare issues.
