Uhuru’s former ADC Lekolool promoted to Major General in military changes

Lekolool, who previously held the rank of a brigadier, has been elevated to a major general and named the new senior directing staff at the National Defence College.

Lekolool was among the three ADCs Uhuru had during his 10-year rule.

He made history as the first Aide de Camp to be drawn from the Navy.

He served until September 13, when President William Ruto ascended to power.

He also served shortly as Ruto's ADC before the appointment of Colonel Fabian Lengusuranga from the Kenya Army, who is the current ADC.

In October, he was then deployed to the Defence headquarters.

Lekolool is the son of the late Principal Commissioner, Francis Lekolool.

He is now a step away from being promoted to a three-star general (Lieutenant General), the second-highest rank in the military.

A Lieutenant General qualifies to be a service commander.

He was appointed after his predecessor, Victor Mburu, left the job to further his studies on matters of National security.

In other promotions, postings, and appointments made by Defence Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya, several senior officers across the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) have been elevated and assigned new leadership roles across the three services-the Kenya Army, Kenya Air Force, and Kenya Navy.

In the Kenya Army, Brigadier Faustino Mancha Lobaly has been promoted to Major General and appointed Director of National Defence Security Industries

Brigadier Charles Lenjo Mwazighe has also been promoted to Major General and will now serve as Director of the International Peace Support Centre.

Brigadier Mohamed Isak Iddi moves up to the rank of Major General and takes over as Director at the Directorate of Oversight, Compliance and Accountability (DOCA).

Brigadier Edward Rugendo has been elevated to Major General and named Director of Personnel and Logistics, while Brigadier Richard Wambua Mwanzia has also been promoted to Major General and appointed Senior Directing Staff (Army) at the National Defence College.

Additionally, Colonel Said Mohamed Mwacharo has been promoted to Brigadier and appointed Chief of Infrastructure, while Colonel Meshack Sinkira Kishoyian has risen to Brigadier and will now serve as Commander of the 6 Brigade.

In the Kenya Air Force, Colonel Herbert Mabele Wafula has been promoted to Brigadier and appointed Base Commander at Moi Airbase.

Colonel Ismail Guhad Noor has also been promoted to Brigadier and takes over as Director of the National Air Support Department (NASD).

Colonel Victor Waithaka Kang’ethe has been promoted to Brigadier and named Deputy Managing Director at the Kenya Ordnance Factories Limited and Food Processing Factory.

Colonel Rodah Mkavita Mwasigwa now holds the rank of Brigadier and will serve as Chief of Compensation and Welfare at Defence Headquarters.

In the Kenya Navy, Colonel Ronald Mesa Makori has been promoted to Brigadier and appointed Chief of Strategic Plans and Policy.

Colonel Peter Musili Muthungu has also been promoted to Brigadier and takes up the role of Head of Production at Kenya Shipyard Limited.

Lieutenant Colonel Wilfrida Atieno Omalo has been promoted to Colonel and appointed Commander of Kenya Navy Logistics, while Lieutenant Colonel Safari Katana Kalume has also been elevated to Colonel and will serve as Senior Directing Staff (Navy) at the Joint Warfare Centre.
