After the visit, Owino facilitated the release of more than 200 inmates who had been charged with various offences.

Yesterday, I released my brothers and sisters from prisons. Nothing can be more fulfilling to my soul than to deploy all my skills and capacities in the service of my fellow citizens."

"Today, upon my admission to the Bar as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, I undertook my maiden assignment by going to Nairobi Prison to secure the release of people incarcerated for petty offences such as traffic offences, consuming illicit brews, drunk and disorderly, et al," his statement reads.

In the statement, Owino vowed to serve his community through justice, servant leadership, and political dedication.

He said that his legal career is not about personal advancement, but about deepening his commitment to social justice.

Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino expressed relief for over 200 individuals in Nairobi West Prison by paying their fines and securing their release, marking his first day as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya on May 23.

The admission ceremony, held at the Supreme Court, saw Owino among the 609 lawyers officially joining the legal fraternity.

To demonstrate his commitment to justice and community service, he visited various prisons across Nairobi, including Nairobi West Pri

son.

In a statement on Saturday, May 24, he highlighted his achievement of securing several individuals, most of whom were charged with minor offences like traffic violations and consuming illicit brews.

“Most of them have been in custody for failure to pay fines, pay bail, or provide security for bond. Through my professional representation as an advocate, I secured the release of more than 200 persons,” he stated.

He added that most of them had been in custody for failure to pay fines, post bail, or provide security for bond.

This achievement is not about personal grandiosity. It is about sharpening the tools of service. The law is now a new battlefield where I will fight even harder for justice, equity and the rights of the common mwananchi," he added.
