Embu boda boda chairman found dead with gunshot wound

Detectives in Mbeere North, Embu County, are investigating the death of a 47-year-old boda boda chairman whose body was discovered in a bush near a roadside in Kariru Sub-location.

The body of Harrison Waweru Kinyanjui was found on Sunday, September 13, 2026, in Mbuguri Village, within Kiangombe Location, lying in a pool of blood.

Police officers who visited the scene found that the deceased had sustained a gunshot wound slightly beneath his right ear, which police said was inflicted at close range.

Two pistol cartridges of unknown calibre were recovered at the scene.

The deceased’s wife told police that Waweru was the chairman of boda boda riders in Siakago Township.

She said he was last seen at around noon on September 12, 2026, after taking her to the NG-CDF Mbeere North office in Siakago.

The scene was processed by Crime Scene Investigation officers from Embu, and the body was moved to Embu Level 5 Hospital mortuary pending an autopsy.

As investigations into the Embu incident continue, a similar case was reported in Uriri, Migori County, where police have launched investigations into the suspected murder of a 35-year-old man whose body was found along a murram road on Sunday morning.

The body of Wycliffe Okelo Osodo was discovered at around 6:30 am by a boda boda rider, approximately 50 metres off the Kisii-Migori Road.

Police officers visited the scene and established that the deceased was a resident of Wingdoung Village, Kawere 2B Sub-location, in Uriri Sub-County.

Police said the body had several visible injuries inflicted by a sharp object on both thighs.

The scene was processed, and the body was moved to the Migori Level IV Hospital mortuary, where it is being preserved pending a post-mortem examination.

Police have commenced investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the death and identify those involved.

Meanwhile, detectives in Mombasa are investigating the suspected murder of a 32-year-old watchman who was allegedly assaulted and hit on the head with a stone by three men at a yard in Shimanzi.

Police visited the scene, where they established that the deceased, identified as Sila Nyaga, had been attacked at around 3:30 a.m.

Nyaga, who worked as a watchman at the yard, was allegedly assaulted by three men said to be his friends.

The men reportedly said Nyaga had assaulted one of them recently.

The report states that Nyaga sustained visible head injuries and died at the scene.

The three men fled after the incident, and efforts to trace and arrest them were underway.

Police processed the scene before moving the body to the Coast General Hospital mortuary, where it is being preserved pending an autopsy.
