Kindiki: 13 County Industrial Parks to be ready by August

The DP said the government is building 47 County Aggregation and Industrial Parks (CAIPs)—one in each county—as a first step towards promoting value addition, manufacturing, and industrialisation.

Speaking on Friday, May 30, 2025, Kindiki noted that the construction of CAIPs is currently underway in 13 counties as part of fulfilling the government’s manifesto.

The counties include Meru, Homa Bay, Busia, Kirinyaga, Embu, Uasin Gishu, Garissa, Migori, Machakos, Kwale, Wajir, Kisii, and Bungoma.The cost of constructing each CAIP is Sh500 million, equally shared by the National Government and the respective County Government,” said Kindiki.

The DP made the remarks at his official residence in Karen while receiving a status update on the progress made toward the establishment and operationalisation of the 13 priority CAIPs. Senior officials from both the national and county governments were present.

Kindiki added that the government is also working to provide key enabler services and utilities—including roads, electricity, water, and ICT connectivity—to each CAIP site.

“Backwards linkages, such as the establishment of ward cooperatives, ward aggregation centres, a warehouse receipt system, provision of agricultural, agritech, and fisheries extension services, as well as market access for the products to be aggregated for value addition in each CAIP, are already underway,” Kindiki said.

On May 20, 2025, during an inspection tour of the Meru County Aggregation and Industrial Park in Buuri Constituency, the Deputy President emphasised that the initiative would significantly benefit farmers by eliminating middlemen.

“The CAIPs will be a big relief to farmers from brokers, and will address post-harvest challenges such as storage and poor sales,” he stated.

He also confirmed that the 13 CAIPs under construction are set to be completed and commissioned by President William Ruto before the end of the year.

He stated that the CAIPs will be completed by August 31, 2025.

Work on the remaining 34 industrial parks in the other counties is expected to begin next year and be completed by 2027.
