Kindiki to Murang’a residents: Shun divisive politics

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has urged residents of Murang’a County to remain united and focus on development, while cautioning them against divisive politics.

Speaking during a public sensitisation event at Mbombo Centre in Maragua Constituency, Wednesday, Kindiki said the government was making progress in implementing its development agenda and improving the lives of Kenyans.

He urged residents to support government programmes and initiatives, saying development should take priority over political differences.

“Let us work for the people, and politics will come later. Let us not allow politics to divide us. It is a small thing. Politics is like football; the ball is given to someone closer to the goal, and the whole team works together. We are in one group, and we will work together to win and support Ruto’s reelection bid,” Kindiki said.

Kindiki also launched the construction of Gakoigo Stadium, a Sh900 million facility with a capacity of 10,000 people and designed to meet international standards.

Recent government reports put the project in Samar, Maragua, after the original Gakoigo grounds were found unsuitable for the planned facility.

The stadium is part of a 32-stadium ecosystem being developed across the country to promote and monetise sporting talent among young people.

The facility is expected to include a football pitch, tartan-finished running track, changing rooms, washrooms for players and fans, covered terraces and ample parking.

Nominated MP Sabina Chege described Kindiki as the most senior politician from the region and urged residents to support his leadership.

“We appreciate the elders who installed you as spokesperson at Kirigiti, and we are fully behind you,” Chege said.

Chege called on the community to rally behind Kindiki, saying his position as a senior political leader from the region should be recognised and supported.

Maragua MP Mary Wamaua also praised Kindiki for what she described as his efforts to advance the government’s development agenda.

Wamaua said the government was working for the people and urged residents to support its programmes and development initiatives.
