Matiang'i starts two-day tour of Migori county

Jubilee Deputy Party Leader Fred Matiang'i has started his tour of Migori county, saying the visit will focus on engaging residents and listening to their concerns as part of his push for national renewal.

The first day of the tour on Wednesday will take him to Kuria West constituency, where he is scheduled to visit Masaba, Kehancha, Ikerege and Isebania.

In a statement, Matiang'i said he is looking forward to interacting with communities across the county and reaffirming his commitment to a united and prosperous Kenya.

"Day one of our Migori county tour begins today. Over the course of this journey, I look forward to listening to the people of Migori county, engaging with our communities, and reaffirming our shared commitment to building a united, just, and prosperous Kenya," he said.

Matiang'i acknowledged that achieving national transformation would require collective effort and resilience.

"The road to national renewal is not an easy one, but with faith, courage, and the unwavering resolve of our people, we shall liberate our country and restore hope for every Kenyan. Let us move forward together," he said.

The Migori tour forms part of the Jubilee Party's ongoing engagements with communities across the country.

On Monday, Matiang'i officially joined the Azimio Coalition's National Council. This comes after his appointment to the coalition's top decision-making organ alongside former Meru Governor Peter Munya and Senator Lenny Kivuti.

The appointments were announced by Azimio Council Secretary General Caroli Omondi following a meeting of the coalition's leadership.

Omondi said the council had resolved to reorganise the coalition's structures and other organs as part of a rebranding exercise.

He also announced the appointment of Matiang'i, Munya and Kivuti to the National Council.

"The council resolved to reorganise the party structures, the various organs of the party, as well as to move forward with the rebranding of the Azimio Coalition," he said.

"The council decided to admit two new members into its ranks. That is His Excellency Fred Matiang'i, the honourable former governor His Excellency Peter Munya, and honourable Senator Lenny Kivuti to become the new council members. So there are three new members to the council.”

Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party is a political coalition formed ahead of the 2022 general election, bringing together several political parties and leaders who sought to compete against the then Deputy President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza Alliance.  

The coalition was formed around the presidential bid of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, with support from several parties, including ODM, Wiper, Jubilee and other smaller parties.
