Police officer among two arrested over Dr Mutiso killing

Two suspects, including a police officer, have been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of psychologist Dr Victoria Mutiso.

Detectives investigating the killing said they had made a breakthrough but were pursuing more suspects.

Police said they recovered a pistol believed to have been used in the shooting, a motorcycle suspected to have been used by the attackers, and a Toyota Prado vehicle that they believe was involved in blocking the taxi carrying Dr Mutiso before she was fatally shot.

Also arrested was a motorcycle rider who police believe ferried the gunman to the scene in Nairobi’s Upper Hill area.

The recovered pistol has been submitted for ballistic examination to establish whether it was used in the killing or other criminal incidents.

Police said the recovered motorcycle had been at the scene where Dr Mutiso was killed.

Director of Criminal Investigations Mohamed Amin was expected to address a press conference on Friday on the developments.

According to police sources, the arrests could help investigators resolve several pending murder cases.

Four other suspects have also been arrested in connection with investigations into Dr Mutiso’s killing.

Detectives are also investigating whether the suspects could be linked to the fatal shooting of lawyer Mathew Kyalo Mbobu, who was shot at close range along Magadi Road in September 2025.

Mbobu had represented Prof David Musyimi Ndetei in a long-running property dispute with his former wife over matrimonial assets said to be worth billions of shillings.

Police are investigating whether the two killings are connected.
