Ruto vows to spread development across Kenya

President William Ruto has vowed to ensure that every part of Kenya benefits from development, saying his administration will pursue equality across communities and regions.

Speaking at Kokwet in Kipkelion West, Kericho County, on September 11, Ruto linked ongoing development projects to his push for equitable distribution of national resources, saying no part of the country should be excluded from progress.

Ruto said the government would continue improving roads while expanding access to electricity and addressing healthcare, education and agricultural needs.

“Munasema tuendelee na hii barabara tujenge, tuunganishe stima, tupange mambo ya matibabu, tupange masomo ya watoto wetu, tupange kilimo,” he asked residents, outlining the areas he said should form part of the development agenda.

The President said the projects were part of a broader effort to unite the country through equal development.

“Niunganishe Kenya? Nilete usawa taifa letu la Kenya?” he asked residents, seeking their support for his call to bring the country together through equitable development.

Ruto said development should not be concentrated in particular parts of the country, arguing that his administration was working to ensure communities that have historically been underserved also benefit from government investment.

“Kwa sababu hii maendeleo inaendelea hapa,” he said, pointing to the development taking place in the area as an example of his approach.

He further asked residents to support his call for national equality, saying he had faced criticism from some quarters because of his emphasis on equity.

“Kuna wengine wamekasirika na mimi ati kwa sababu ya usawa,” Ruto said, before defending equality as an important foundation for the country.

“Mimi nataka niwaambie usawa ni kitu ya muhimu katika taifa letu,” he said.

Ruto also connected inequality and discrimination to social divisions, arguing that unequal treatment of communities can fuel resentment and hostility.

“Mambo ya ubaguzi ndio inaleta kisirani, mambo ya ubaguzi ndio inaleta chuki,” he said, warning against discrimination as Kenya pursues development.

The President said his administration would instead seek to build a country in which communities and regions participate in national development without being excluded.

“Mimi nataka niwaambie tutaweka usawa katika taifa letu la Kenya,” he said.

He concluded his message with a pledge that development would extend across the country, regardless of location or community

Every part of the Republic of Kenya will be on board and we are going to leave no community, we are going to leave no region, we are going to leave no area left behind,” Ruto said.
