Mwambieni ajipange! Ruto confronts alleged land grabber in Nairobi tour

President William Ruto has issued a stern warning to a private developer attempting to seize a public field in Nairobi’s Baba Dogo area.

Speaking during an inspection tour of the ongoing Nairobi River rehabilitation project, Ruto did not mince his words, declaring he will personally defend the rights of the local community.

He was responding to concerns from area leaders and residents about the alleged grabbing of the particular land.

“Mwambieni huyo mwenye anataka kuchukua uwanja wenu mambo ni matatu, ajipange. Atakutana na mimi, awachane na uwanja ya wananchi,” he said, drawing cheers from the residents.

Ruto also ordered security officers deployed to man the disputed plot to leave immediately.

“Mimi naamrisha askari watoke kwa hiyo kiwanja, wawachane na hiyo kiwanja kwa sababu ni mali ya wananchi,” he said.

Na sio kesho, askari wa polisi waondoke sai hizi.” He assured the youth of Dandora that the contested parcel of land would be preserved and upgraded for their benefit.

“Pale kwa hiyo uwanja mimi nitakuja kuwasaidia kujenga mahali ya mchezo ya vijana wa hapa. Na kama ako na maneno, akuje aulize mimi, awachane na nyinyi,” he added.

During the visit, the President also announced an expansion of the ClimateWox programme.

He stated that the number of youths involved will rise from the current 20,000 to 40,000 starting next week.

He also reiterated his administration’s commitment to the Affordable Housing Programme (AHP), promising to scale up the number of housing units under construction to 300,000 nationwide.

Earlier, the Head of State launched the rehabilitation of the 3.1-kilometre bridge, Savannah-Stage 17 Masimba Road, which traverses Embakasi West.

He was accompanied by a host of leaders from Nairobi County, led by Governor Johnson Sakaja.
