Political leaders turn out in style for Charlene Ruto’s Koito ceremony
Political leaders turned heads in coordinated outfits as they arrived in Kilgoris on Saturday for President William Ruto’s daughter Charlene Ruto’s traditional wedding ceremony.
The leaders made their way to Intonna Heritage Farm in Naserian Village, Narok County, where the Koito ak Chaik ceremony is taking place.
A video shared by Lang’ata MP Phelix Odiwuor, popularly known as Jalang’o, captured a group of leaders arriving at the venue in what appeared to be a coordinated dress code.
“Vile Tunaingia Kilgoris Kwa Harusi ya Charlene! Harusi tunayo!!” Jalang’o captioned the video, celebrating the group’s arrival.
Jalang’o was among those who stood out, appearing in a maroon or brown-toned Kaunda-style suit paired with a matching brown cap.
He completed the look with dark spectacles and a walking stick as he joined the procession towards the venue.
The Lang’ata MP appeared to lead the group as they walked together towards the ceremony, with their coordinated colours adding a touch of spectacle to the high-profile event.
Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja was also among those captured arriving at the ceremony, maintaining the coordinated appearance seen among the group.
Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu was similarly seen stepping out of her vehicle after arriving at the venue before walking towards the ceremony.
She appeared to have opted for a brown-toned maxi dress for the occasion.
Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris was also captured among the guests, wearing an outfit featuring colours that appeared to complement the group's overall theme.
The arrivals added a fashion-focused moment to a ceremony that has brought together members of the Ruto family, friends, political leaders and other invited guests.
The event is being held as Charlene, President Ruto and First Lady Rachel Ruto’s daughter, takes a traditional step towards marriage.
The Koito ak Chaik ceremony is a significant cultural occasion among the Kalenjin, combining the traditional engagement process with a farewell ceremony as a daughter prepares to leave her parental home and begin a new chapter of her life.
The ceremony has attracted a high-profile guest list, with several prominent political figures making their way to the family’s Kilgoris venue.
Earlier in the day, helicopters were also reported arriving at Intonna Heritage Farm as guests made their way to the ceremony, adding to the high-profile nature of the occasion.
