Ruto gives president Mohamud a ride in Polaris XPEDITION XP 1000
The two leaders were seen riding together in a Polaris XPEDITION XP 1000 off‑road utility vehicle, a premium adventure machine designed for backcountry travel, symbolising a relaxed yet purposeful approach to diplomacy.
The Polaris Xpedition XP 1000 is a high-performance utility terrain vehicle (UTV) designed for adventure touring, overlanding and demanding off-road use.
Powered by a 999cc twin-cylinder engine that produces about 114 horsepower, it combines strong performance with the ability to tackle rugged terrain.
The vehicle features on-demand all-wheel drive, high ground clearance and a long-travel suspension system, allowing it to navigate rough trails, rocky paths and remote wilderness areas with ease.
Unlike sport-focused UTVs, the Xpedition XP 1000 places a strong emphasis on comfort, storage and long-distance capability.
It offers ample cargo space, a rear cargo bed and roof rack options, making it ideal for carrying camping gear, hunting equipment and work tools.
Depending on the model, it can accommodate two or five passengers. Many versions come equipped with advanced technology, including Polaris' RIDE COMMAND navigation system, touchscreen controls and integrated communication features.
Some premium trims also offer enclosed cabs with heating and air conditioning, providing protection from harsh weather conditions.
With a towing capacity of up to 907 kilograms (2,000 pounds), the Xpedition XP 1000 is suitable for both recreation and utility tasks.
Its blend of power, comfort and practicality has made it a popular choice among outdoor enthusiasts, hunters, farmers and overland adventurers seeking a capable all-terrain vehicle.
The meeting centred on strengthening security cooperation against al‑Shabaab, expanding trade ties, and promoting regional stability amid Somalia’s ongoing political tensions over President Mohamud’s term extension.
According to officials close to the talks, both leaders emphasised the need for sustained collaboration between Nairobi and Mogadishu to secure border regions and enhance economic integration within the Horn of Africa.
Ruto’s choice of venue, a private farm, offered a stark contrast to the formality of State House meetings.
Observers noted that the gesture reflected Ruto’s preference for direct engagement and his effort to project Kenya’s image as a neighbour committed to peace and partnership.
The leaders’ conversation reportedly touched on joint counter‑terrorism operations, cross‑border infrastructure, and agricultural trade opportunities that could benefit communities along the Kenya-Somalia frontier.
By hosting Mohamud in an informal environment, Ruto signalled a shift toward personalised diplomacy, blending rural authenticity with strategic dialogue.
The encounter, captured on camera as the two presidents shared smiles in the rugged vehicle, highlighted a moment of goodwill amid complex regional challenges—an image of cooperation rolling across Kenya’s grasslands.
