Sifuna: I hope to master Meru version of ‘Mnaniona vizuri’ ahead of rally

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has turned his attention to learning the Meru version of his popular “Mnaniona Vizuri” catchphrase ahead of the Linda Mwananchi movement's rally in Meru on Sunday, August 30, 2026.

Sifuna made the light-hearted remarks as he invited supporters to attend the Linda Mwananchi caravan, acknowledging that he was still struggling to pronounce the phrase in the Meru dialect.

In a video shared alongside a rally announcement, Sifuna joked about his attempt to learn the local version of the catchphrase.

“Kuna jamaa hapa anajaribu kunifundisha ‘mnaniona vizuri’ kwa Kimeru lakini najiumauma,” he said, loosely referring to a person trying to teach him how to say the phrase in Meru.

“Mnaniona Vizuri?” has become one of Sifuna’s familiar expressions during his energetic public rallies and political addresses, often delivered with his trademark enthusiasm.

The Nairobi senator said he hoped to have mastered the phrase by Sunday when the Linda Mwananchi team is expected to hold its meeting in Meru.

His remarks added a light touch to the movement’s mobilisation ahead of its planned visit to the county, where there has been considerable interest in the team’s activities.

Sifuna also acknowledged that some residents were hoping the team would tour the entire county during the visit.

I want to invite you to our meeting in Meru. I know there is a lot of interest, and many people want us to tour the whole of Meru, but, you know, Meru is very big,” he said.

He assured residents that the Sunday meeting should not be viewed as the movement’s only engagement with the county.

“This is just our first meeting. It does not mean that we won’t go back there over and over again,” he said.

Sifuna said the team intends to return to the county to visit different parts, asking residents not to feel left out if the movement does not reach their areas during the initial visit.

“We want to come and talk to you, and we will definitely return to visit all parts of Meru. Nobody should feel pressured or worry that we will not reach their area. We simply need more than one day to make a substantive visit across the county,” he said.

He also encouraged supporters who can make it to Meru town or to the various stops planned along the route to turn up and interact with the team.

The caravan comes as the movement continues to expand its grassroots engagements, following its recent visit to Homa Bay County.

Former Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza, who is allied to the movement, has also been involved in popularising Linda Mwananchi in the region.
